20Fuel Analyzer - Introduction

Electric Thrusters work linearly: the amount of thrust they produce is always proportional to their power usage.
Fuel Thrusters behave differently. Their performance is nonlinear, meaning that different throttle levels can produce different amounts of thrust for the same amount of fuel consumed.
To check the properties of a pure or mixed fuel, send it into a Fuel Analyzer. The display shows:
• The green curve shows fuel performance at different throttle levels. Higher values mean better performance.
• The red curve shows fuel stability. Higher stability is better.
• The light gray line shows linear performance up to the fuel’s maximum performance. This is how an Electric Thruster would behave.
• The dark gray line shows a fixed stability of 50% and does not change.
• The green dot shows the performance at the throttle level set using the knob or input port.
The display shows that pure blue fuel has 25% performance at 50% throttle, with 100% stability. This means that setting the lever to 50% makes the thruster produce 25% of its maximum thrust while consuming fuel at 50% of its maximum rate.
