It looks like these two Outcast Polar Anchors should be able to stabilize the planet’s ionosphere and finally stop the extreme winds around the equator.
First, use the Magnetometer to locate the north and south poles as precisely as possible. You may remember using it before to predict solar storms. There should be no wind near the poles, so at least that part should be easy.
Charge both Polar Anchors during your flight and make sure they have enough operating time. Once you activate the first anchor, the clock starts ticking — you’ll need to reach the opposite pole and activate the second one before the first shuts down. Watch the display and plan your route carefully.
One more thing: once activated, the anchors will burn any cables within a fairly large radius. Drop the anchor using decouplers, move your spaceship to a safe distance, and only then activate it.
Make sure you have enough time. Flying halfway around a planet just to watch the first anchor die would be... unfortunate.
Hints
- Use the Magnetometer to locate both poles as precisely as possible.
- Make sure the first Polar Anchor has enough charge before dropping and activating it — once left behind, you won’t be able to charge it anymore.
- You can continue charging the second Polar Anchor while flying to the opposite pole.
- Activate the second anchor before the first one runs out of power.
- Keep your spaceship at a safe distance when activating an anchor — it will burn nearby cables.
